Measuring 21 1/2" in length, this unsplit Coast Redwood (Sequoia sempervirens ) branch flute is accurately tuned and voiced to a sweet and soulful G# minor pentatonic scale, playing 3 upper octave notes.  The bark has been left on at the north end, morphing to the finely finished wood grain at the south end.  All knot holes and a few surface checks have been inlaid with crushed Malachite stone.   To aid against wet-out (the build-up of breath condensation that can clog the windway of the flute) the bird has been fitted with a redwood heartwood shoe, for its absorption qualities, and a drain hole has been designed into the air chamber.  Deer lacing with Malachite and brass beads holds the bird to the nest, while covering the drain hole.

This flute has been adopted into a loving home!
